Master filmmaker Kiyoshi Kurosawa brings the hit mystery novel of the same name?winner of the Naoki Prize?to the big screen! Starring Masahiro Motoki, Masaki Suda and Yuriko Yoshitaka.

Araki Murashige (Masahiro Motoki), a warlord of the Sengoku period, raises his banner against the oppressive rule of Oda Nobunaga. However, within the castle, where he is forced to hold out, a series of inexplicable murders occurs, and fear and suspicion spread... With Oda’s army closing in and a traitor lurking within, the cornered Murashige forms a precarious alliance with his strategist, Kuroda Kanbei (Masaki Suda), who is imprisoned in the dungeon, and attempts to unravel the mystery. Set against the backdrop of a real-life rebellion, this film?which screened at the 79th Cannes Film Festival?interweaves human psychology under extreme pressure with a locked-room mystery!
The music is composed by Yoshihiro Hanno, who has collaborated with world-renowned masters.

Musician / Composer / Producer. He is internationally acclaimed for his unique musical style that spans electronica, jazz and contemporary music.
In the field of film music, he frequently collaborates with Chinese master director Hou Hsiao-hsien and, in Japan, with director Isao Yukisada. Recently, he has demonstrated his international reach by composing the score for French director Christophe Honore’s ‘Winter Boy’. Whilst his scores, which combine delicate sound design with lyricism, are highly acclaimed, his activities have expanded into diverse fields including art, fashion and theatre.
